The Drama of Life and Community
Presented by Mark Wentworth
What is Dynamic Theatre?
Dynamic Theatre was brought into being by Mark Wentworth. It is a synthesis of Psychodrama, Systemic Constellations and Shamanism.
Dynamic Theatre is the opportunity to explore through ‘acting-out’ the various stories that run through our individual lives and that of the communities in which we live and work today. We have a relationship with everything and everyone we come into contact with, these relationships can be easygoing or cause us continuous problems, by playing out through Dynamic Theatre we can begin to understand what is the underlying issue we have with a situation or with a person. It is not necessary to be or have any kind of acting experience, just the willingness to participate as both performer and audience. Someone tells a story or moment from their life, be it a business issue, a personal problem or health condition, and then chooses players to act out the different roles, and then watches as their story is immediately recreated and given artistic shape and coherence, thus revealing the true nature of the issue.
Who is Dynamic Theatre for?
Dynamic Theatre is for everyone. If you want to get to know yourself better, Dynamic Theatre can help you explore the many levels and depths of your being. If you are at a crossroads in your life be it personally or from a business perspective and wish to seek advice and new direction, Dynamic Theatre can help lead you to finding that answer and direction. Dynamic Theatre is an enriching experience for actors of any kind. Shakespeare said that ‘the world is a stage and we are all players upon it’. Not only is the world your stage but you are also the star of the show and the scriptwriter, director and producer! Dynamic Theatre’s beauty is that it enables you to know and experience the full repertoire of your soul’s stories. The German poet and writer Hermann Hesse so rightly said “I can give you nothing that has not already its being within yourself. I can throw open to you no picture gallery but your own soul”
The experience
With Dynamic Theatre everyone gains something, whether coming to explore and know yourself better, or just for the experience, we all help each other. Dynamic Theatre gives you the opportunity to learn to trust your intuition, be spontaneous, embody powerful emotions and importantly see through to the heart of any presenting story. The difference between Dynamic Theatre and other forms of drama work, be it psychodrama, family constellations or other systemic forms of psychotherapy is the players do not know what or who they are playing; it is the pure energy and spontaneity of the story which guides them to feel and express body sensations and to act on and trust pure intuition. Expect to be playing anything from an inanimate object, someone’s ancestors from 300 years ago, to archetypal Gods and Goddesses – in Dynamic Theatre anything and anyone is possible. The beauty and power of this group experience is that a player cannot feel or act in a certain way unless it already exists within his/her conscious or unconscious experience, therefore one person’s story gives the opportunity for all to become enriched.
Building community through personal stories
Dynamic Theatre creates a ritual space where any story - however ordinary, extraordinary, hidden or difficult - might be told, and immediately made into theatre. And where each person's uniqueness is honoured and affirmed while at the same time building and strengthening our connections to each other as a community of people. The reason we bring in others to play our stories is because it evokes our instinctual sense of community and awakens our desires in helping another human being on their journey through life, if one person is assisted, on some level mankind as a whole is moved on.

The Intention
For me the intention of presenting this course is to share with you this powerful technique of transformation and understanding. This is offered as an experiential introductory workshop, with the possibility to continue further training if so desired. The Dynamic Theatre training programme is constantly evolving, at the moment it ranges from 3-day to 5-day residential courses. It is my intent that Dynamic Theatre keeps on growing, and once you have taken this introductory course and decide to continue training I invite you to join our on-line community of others who share the enthusiasm and love of Dynamic Theatre. There will be lots of opportunities to meet, practice and share with fellow directors from all walks of life from different parts of the world community. My aim is that once a year we all join together to share personal and group experiences with the aim of letting Dynamic Theatre grow. I would like it that once you have furthered your experience and training with Dynamic Theatre and feel confident with the technique you then share it with others. The inspiration to create Dynamic Theatre was with the idea and wishes to offer this as a gift to the greater community.
